It is true generally acknowledge that Compact operators possess an abundant number of good properties that make them the center of many studies in different areas of mathematics. But there is a larger class of operators, sometimes overlooked and undervalued, which poses some properties usually connected with compact maps (like the stability of perturbation for Fredholm Operators). In this short talk, we will look at natural embeddings between sequence spaces and Lorentz sequence spaces and try to establish whether these non-compact embeddings are Strictly Singular or even better.
