Complexity Theory with a Human Face, 2nd Edition

17/10/2021 to 20/10/2021
Organizers: Pavel Hrubeš, Michal Koucký, Navid Talebanfard
Špindlerův Mlýn

After a successful first edition we resume our workshop in the beautiful Czech mountains of Krkonoše where we celebrate complexity theory with excellent contributed talks, and long hikes imbued with heated exchange of open problems, new ideas and visions.

Workshop on Generic Structures

24/10/2021 to 30/10/2021
Organizers: Tristan Bice, Wiesław Kubiś, Christian Pech, Beata Kubiś
Place: Institute of Mathematics CAS, Žitná 25, Prague
A mathematical structure could be called generic if it can be built by an infinite process which is as complicated as possible. Such structures were first identified in model theory (Fraïssé limits), nevertheless, currently, the most general framework is metric-enriched category theory. This framework allows for exploring generic structures appearing in topology and functional analysis, including C*-algebra theory. Perhaps one of the most important attributes of generic structures is their uniqueness, up to isomorphism. This leads to sometimes unexpected results showing that two arbitrary structures, sharing certain mild extension property, are actually the same.
The workshop is devoted to recent results and current problems around the theory of generic structures. The aim is to gather specialists working in the area as well as students and young researchers interested in the topic.
The event is taking place within the framework of the EXPRO project Abstract Convergence... more

Winter School in Abstract Analysis, section Set Theory & Topology

29/01/2022 to 05/02/2022
Organizers: Institute of Mathematics of the Czech Academy of Sciences
Place: Klášter Hejnice, Czech Republic
The Winter School is a traditional conference for mathematicians working in diverse areas of Set Theory, Topology and Analysis. The school is a meeting where emphasis is put on the joy of doing mathematics. Questions and discussions are welcome and there is plenty of space for them outside of the talks. It is also open to advanced students who are most welcome to not only participate but to also present their work. The program is split into a tutorial part and a research part. The tutorial part will consist of a series of lectures delivered by the invited speakers. The tutorials are meant to be accessible to students and non-experts. The research part will consist of presentations of research papers/problems from the area of Set Theory, Set Theoretic Topology, Measure Theory and related fields.

16th Internationl Workshop on Discrete Event Systems

07/09/2022 to 09/09/2022
Place: CIIRC, Prague, Czechia
The Workshop Series on Discrete Event Systems started in 1992 in Prague and since then has been held every two years. It aims to provide researchers from different fields (control theoreticians and control engineers, software engineers and computer scientists, operations research specialists) with an opportunity to exchange information and new ideas, and to discuss new developments in the field of DES theory and application.
