In this seminar we shall discuss topics concerning constructions and applications of cohomology theory in algebra, geometry, physics and statistics. In particular we shall discuss in first four seminars the relations between vertex algebras and foliations on manifolds, Gelfand-Fuks cohomology on singular spaces, cohomology of homotopy Lie algebras. The expositions should be accessible for all participants.

I will show how we can extend the classical circle-prequantum bundle in the case of integral symplectic manifold to any closed 2-form on any diffeological space and for any group of periods even when the torus of period is not a circle but an irrational torus. I will discuss the definition of the periods of the 2-form and the construction of the generalized prequantum bundle as a quotient of the space of paths only, without the help of an extra structure. I may give on or two singular examples.

I will review how the real cobordism theory plays an important

role in Hill—Hopkins—Ravenel’s solution to the Kervaire invariant one

problem and leads to new computations in chromatic homotopy theory at the

prime 2. Then I will report about my joint work with Po Hu, Igor Kriz, Petr

Somberg, and Foling Zou on the construction of odd prime analogues of real

cobordism theory.
